SilkeMat Torso

SilkeMat form for "life-sized" Torsos (about 20"). Barbara Cashman presents this class for beginners/intermediate students. In the “Torso” project; you will learn both CAST and surface DRAPE finish techniques thereby creating 2 UNIQUE pieces to take away with you – as well as your hand-made mold!

Humankind has always been captivated by the beauty and complexity of the human form - its unique lines, contours, symmetry, and asymmetry. This class invites you on a personal journey of artistic expression, focusing on the feminine form.

You begin by crafting your own SilkeMat mold using a provided torso form, learning to shape and contour the material. Once dried and prepped, you will design and create a casting for the interior of the mold. As that piece undergoes firing, you will embark on a second project - designing and firing a glass piece to be slumped over the exter of the same mold.

At the end of the course, you will take home two unique forms and your reusable mold, empowering you to continue exploring and creating torso-inspired artworks in your own space, opening the door to new creative possibilities.
